Smartphone dominance has been the core issue among different platforms but the majority of the cake division has been between android and ios with blackberry and windows sharing crumbles left behind. With a significant update bring out iOS 7, Apple has already shown all the critics that it still can innovate and understands user experience more than anybody. After almost three months of the release, there has been a tough battle going on between android and iOS as both are trying to claim their supremacy in the mobility ecosystem.
There is no denying the fact that android has been plagued with issues like fragmentation, which is why the latest iteration of android KitKat 4.4 is an important step forward for android. With less than half of the android devices on Jellybean 4.3, many analysts were of the view that Google needed to ensure that fragmentation is rectified in order to create a more seamless ecosystem of users as well as app developers.
iOS on the other hand has done pretty well in that aspect as more than 74 percent of the action iOS devices are already running latest iteration of the OS just few months of its release. Moreover, nearly 96 percent of the iOS devices are running at least the two latest versions of the platform, iOS 6 and iOS 7, which is a huge achievement in terms of the fragmentation issue.According to Jimmy Parker of Mobile programming LLC, "This would only held mobile app developers as well as end users in the long run by bringing out robust products and services".
Apple has always maintained its seamless advantage in terms of providing an intuitive experience to the users. In the previous WWDC event also, apple left no stone unturned and did not shy away from the fact that it dominated the smartphone ecosystem. although Google might hold a larger consumer market share but overall iOS held a much diverse market and had a better user experience to offer. As this tug of war between Android and iOS continues, there surely would be lots of fireworks from both sides.
